The American University in the Emirates seeks an experienced English Trainer to join the team. The role is to provide AUE students language development services to support their academic success. Also, the English trainer supports students to achieve their academic goals and develop the skills needed to meet their educational, career, and personal goals using the full range of AUE institutional and community resources.

Job Type: Part-time

The English Trainer required may teach the below courses:

  • IELTS Preparatory Course
  • TOEFL Preparatory Course
  • Beginner English Language Course
  • Intermediate English Language Course

Class schedule: Monday to Thursday (4:00 PM to 5:30 PM)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master's Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in English Language or related field from an accredited university 
  • Preferrably native English speakers
  • At least 2 years of experience in teaching English in a university setting is required.
  • Experience in teaching IELTS/ TOEFL courses is preferred.

Job Description

  1. Help students develop English language skills in the following ways namely, preparation for TOEFL and IELTS tests, and language development in beginner, intermediate, and advanced English development courses.
  2. Coordinate the development of academic literacy through the writing lab with both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  3. Extend English language support to the students who met AUE language entry requirements but still struggling with their studies.
  4. Provide academic, personal advising, and counseling in terms of writing and communication development.
  5. Review, revise and enhance the English Language program curriculum, student’s assessment, and activities.
  6. Engage with lecturers concerning the academic writing of their students.
  7. Market and create awareness of the writing lab amongst students in the AUE.
  8. Support and engage with post-graduate masters’ students to help improve their academic writing.
