Computer Trainer – Preparatory Program

The American University in the Emirates (AUE) seeks an experienced Computer Trainer to join its academic support team. The role focuses on delivering preparatory and foundational computer courses to support students’ academic readiness and success. The Computer Trainer will help students develop essential technical and digital skills required for their university studies and future careers, utilizing AUE’s institutional resources and learning support frameworks.

Job Type: Full-Time

The Computer Trainer will be responsible for teaching the following preparatory courses:

  • Computer Preparatory Courses
  • Basic Computing and Digital Literacy
  • Introductory IT and Technology Skills (as assigned)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience teaching computer or IT-related subjects, preferably in a university or higher education setting.
  • Experience teaching foundation or preparatory-level courses is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of computer applications, digital tools, and learning technologies.
  • Prior experience supporting students with varying levels of technical proficiency is an advantage.

 

Job Description

  • Deliver computer preparatory and foundation courses to support students’ academic readiness.
  • Help students develop essential computer skills, including basic IT concepts, software applications, and digital literacy.
  • Support students who meet entry requirements but continue to struggle with computer-based coursework.
  • Provide academic guidance and technical support related to coursework, assignments, and assessments.
  • Review, update, and enhance preparatory computer course curricula, assessments, and learning activities.
  • Coordinate with faculty members to align preparatory computer training with academic program requirements.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to improve learning outcomes.
  • Participate in academic support initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement of preparatory programs.
  • Perform any other duties related to the role as assigned by the department or university management.
